Depression and suicidal tendencies are global issues affecting millions of individuals. Today, we have the privilege of speaking with Alok Vasavda, an experienced energy healer based in Ahmedabad, India, who specializes in addressing cases related to depression and suicidal tendencies. Alok has healed more than 100 cases related to depression and suicidal tendencies in last 10 years. In this blog, we aim to explore this topic further, gaining valuable insights by Alok from the perspective of energy healing.

CureZeal: Thanks Alok for being with us.
Alok: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.

CureZeal: Let’s jump right in. From your extensive experience, what have you observed in healing individuals grappling with depression and thoughts of suicide?
Alok: Over the years, having worked with over a thousand cases, I’ve noticed a pattern in patients with depression and non-depression. Generally, people struggling with depression often battle with low self-esteem, low self-image etc. They feel incomplete in themselves and procrastinate in various aspects of their lives. Their lack of enthusiasm for daily activities is quite noticeable.

CureZeal: That’s quite revealing. Could you elaborate on Procrastination? How it is linked with the depression?
Alok: Absolutely. Procrastination often goes hand in hand with depression. Individuals dealing with depression tend to fear failure, so they delay tasks to avoid facing that fear head-on. It becomes a coping mechanism, albeit an unhealthy one. On the contrary, those without depression usually dive into tasks without dwelling too much on potential outcomes.

CureZeal: Does that mean people who procrastinate are usually depressed?
Alok: Not necessarily. While many people with depression tend to procrastinate, not everyone who procrastinates is depressed.
Procrastination can be a symptom of depression but it’s not exclusive to it. There are various reasons why people procrastinate, but when coupled with other signs of depression, it could indicate a deeper issue.

CureZeal: Interesting. Now, can you shed some light on how depression forms and its link to suicidal thoughts?
Alok: It’s actually a complex interplay of factors. In many cases, individuals struggling with low self-esteem or a negative self-image tend to procrastinate. They isolate themselves due to a fear of failure, which only worsens their self-esteem. When they see others succeeding, they perceive themselves as worthless or burdensome or looser, leading to thoughts like, “I have no purpose, I’m better off ending my life.”

Such repetitive negative thought patterns reinforce low self-esteem and fear of failure, creating a vicious cycle. Over time, this can lead to denial and deeper depressive thoughts, eventually driving individuals towards suicidal ideation.

CureZeal: Do people come to you for depression healing on their own, or do others bring them?
Alok
: It varies from case to case. There are people who are aware of their own emotions and realize they might be experiencing the early signs of depression. These individuals take the initiative to reach out for support, sometimes after checking online to confirm their symptoms.
Then, there are people who come to us primarily with symptoms but may not fully grasp that they are dealing with depression. Through conversations and deeper exploration, we help them understand their situation better without letting them know that they are in depression. Sometimes, these individuals are accompanied by family members or friend who are concerned about their well-being.
Lastly, there are people who are clinically diagnosed with depression and are undergoing psychiatric treatment, including medication. We don’t get the chance to interact with such patients as they are not in that stage yet. In these cases, their family members often act as their main point of contact with us, seeking additional support and guidance. We help them mostly via distant energy healing.

CureZeal: What’s the initial step you take when a person dealing with depression comes to you? How do you work towards helping them feel better and happier? Could you walk us through your process?
Alok: My first step is to engage in a conversation to truly understand what they’re experiencing. Then, I focus on highlighting the positives in their life, their achievements, and remind them of their potential and the things they’re good at. It’s important to make them see the positives. By acknowledging their feelings and situation while also emphasizing the good things happening in their life, we aim to instill a sense of hope and empowerment. And then, I use energy or chakra healing techniques to break down those negative thoughts that are bringing them down.

Alok Vasavda - Presenting Workshop on Energy Healing

CureZeal: Could you please elaborate on how energy and chakra healing techniques are used in treating individuals with depression?
Alok: Often, people tend to dwell on past failures, getting trapped in certain recurring thought patterns. These patterns manifest as energy in our energy centers, known as chakras. Through energy healing, we work to dismantle these patterns. Think of it like a program running in our chakras—similar to how we use antivirus software to remove viruses from a computer. By breaking these negative energy patterns within the chakras, we restore the proper flow of energy.

By clearing these negative energy patterns, it’s like hitting the reset button on our thoughts. This means that the next time they approach a task or situation, they’re able to approach it with a fresh perspective. Without those old, limiting beliefs holding them back, they’re free to think differently and embrace new possibilities.

CureZeal: While healers typically address various types of cases, you have got a specialization on healing depression-related cases, achieving a high success rate. What do you believe contributed to attracting so many patients seeking treatment for depression to you specifically and achieving a high success rate?
Alok: When I started practicing healing in the initial days, I encountered 3-4 cases of depression. I conducted extensive research to understand why they were feeling this way and to determine the most effective energy healing techniques to address this issue. Fortunately, all cases were successfully healed. These early successes boosted my confidence. As word spread through word of mouth within relevant circles and among friends, more people with similar symptoms began to reach out to me for healing.

I noticed an increase in such cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the time when discussions about mental health became prevalent across various social media platforms and newspapers. This increased awareness surrounding mental health issues prompted individuals to seek support. Hearing positive feedback from those who had previously received healing from me, more people began to reach out for healing. As a result, I started receiving 1-2 requests for depression healing every week during pandemic. Over time, the number of such cases and healing requests continued to grow.

CureZeal: Lastly, do you have any simple tips or advice for our viewers and readers to avoid getting depressed?
Alok: Of course. I can offer one piece of advice. Consider your daily activities and then evaluate how many of those activities you “have to” do versus how many you “like to” do.
“Have to” activities are typically done out of responsibility or obligation. For example, you have to wake up early for work even though you prefer to sleep in, or you have to cook for your family even if you don’t enjoy cooking.
“Like to” activities are the ones you choose to do because they bring you joy and fulfilment. For instance, playing with your kids or spending time alone on a solo trip, indulging in your favorite pastime, or simply hanging out with friends.
When you have more “have to” activities than “like to” activities, your overall happiness tends to decrease. It’s important to ensure that your “like to” activities exceeds your “have to” activities.

CureZeal: That’s a great insight, Alok. I have two questions regarding these “have to” and  “like to” activities.
Alok: Yes, please go ahead.

CureZeal: Some people like smoking, gambling, or drinking, and they have chosen to engage in these activities. As these are their ‘like to’ activities, should they continue involving in these activities?

Alok: Ah, I see where the confusion may lie. The “like to” activities I referred to are ethical activities that bring genuine happiness and fulfilment. ‘Like to’ activities should not involve any low-level or unethical behaviors such as drinking, gambling, smoking, or any addictive activities that may have long-term consequences. For example, watching a movie once a week is acceptable, but spending excessive hours daily watching TV is not advisable, enjoying a drink with friends once in a while may not align with spiritual or religious beliefs, but if done in moderation, it’s generally acceptable but we should try to refrain from activities which numbs our awareness or senses. Such ‘like to’ activities should be avoided or moderated.

CureZeal: Is there any trick for transforming ‘have to’ activity into ‘like to’ activity? For example – It makes me feel burdensome to get up early in the morning and travel for an hour in traffic to reach office? How can I start liking such ‘have to’ activities so that I don’t feel burdensome.
Alok: When faced with a ‘have to’ activity, mentally approach it as a ‘choose to’ activity, attributing a reason that resonates with you. For instance, if you have to wake up early for work, which you cannot avoid, instead of saying, “I have to” or “I don’t like to,” you can say, “I choose to wake up early because this job provides me with income, sustenance, and enables me to pursue my other interests.” By repeatedly affirming such statements daily, you are programming your mind to embrace and appreciate these activities. It’s all about shifting your perception.

We should also try to bring acceptance into our life for the choices that we have made. For example, in this case, the decision to pursue a job with early hours was your choice. You could have prepared yourself earlier to pursue a business with more flexible timings or chosen a job with more suitable hours. Therefore, we have actively chosen the activities that have brought us to where we are now. It’s essential to accept them and work towards cultivating a positive attitude towards them. As the saying goes, “Fake it until you make it.” With awareness and consistent practice, you can gradually learn to appreciate and even enjoy what you once disliked. This might be difficult to do self practice at initial level, that’s why healers or life coach comes into picture. With the help of some coaching or mentoring, this can be easily achieved.

CureZeal:  That’s a great insight, Alok.  How did you come to this great insight, and could you elaborate further?
Alok: This insight came from my observations. As we mature and take on more responsibilities, we often neglect small activities that once brought us joy. These activities can vary from person to person and may include playing like a kid, watching movies, indulging in junk food, dancing, playing games with family, or spending time with friends. It’s crucial to identify these small sources of happiness and incorporate them into our daily lives. The concept of ‘Choose to’activity I learned from one of my mentor and also it has reference in the book ‘Non-violent communication’ by ‘Marshall Rosenberg’

CureZeal: As we wrap up our discussion, Alok, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your profound insights into overcoming depression and suicidal tendencies through energy healing. Your practical tips for avoiding depression are invaluable. Thank you for your time and wisdom.
Alok: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss such important topics. I’m grateful for the chance to share my insights on depression, suicidal tendencies, and the potential of energy healing on this platform. If there’s one takeaway I’d like to leave our audience with, it’s the importance of seeking support and implementing positive practices in our daily lives to maintain mental well-being. Let’s continue to spread awareness and support each other on this journey. Thank you again for having me.
